Institution Building
The Institute of Chemical Technology is a premier institution in the field, renowned world wide for its teaching, research and consultancy work. Instituted as the Department of Chemical Technology of the University of Mumbai (UDCT), it subsequently got autonomous status as the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT), and is today a deemed university.
The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation has supported the following projects of the Institute of Chemical Technology which is a recognized centre of excellence :
Setting up of the Narotam Sekhsaria School of Biological Sciences and Technology at the ICT campus.
Supporting an awards programme to recognize significant and consistent performance of the faculty in the areas of teaching, research and service to industry.
Instituting three Chairs in ICT's Department of Chemical Engineering. of these two Chairs are at the Professor level - the 'Narotam Sekhsaria Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering' and the 'M M Sharma Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering' - and one Chair at the Lecturer level - the 'R A Mashelkar Chair in Chemical Engineering'
