Founded in 1976 by Dr. G. Venkataswamy with the mission to eliminate needless blindness, Aravind is the largest and most productive eye care facility in the world. Taking its compassionate services to the doorstep of rural India, Aravind's stunningly effective strategies vaulted barriers of distance, poverty and ignorance to create a self-sustaining system.
Today the Aravind Eye Care System encompasses five hospitals, three managed eye hospitals, a manufacturing center for ophthalmic products, an international research foundation and a resource and training center that is revolutionizing hundreds of eye care programs across the developing world.

Prince Aly Khan Hospital
Established in 1945, the Prince Aly Khan Hospital is a 164 bed, acute care, multi-speciality facility, registered as a charitable trust. Part of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS), Prince Aly Khan has earned ISO Certification through its provision of quality health care and comfortable patient accommodation.
Equipped with a three-room operating theatre complex, an intensive care unit, an intensive cardiac care unit, a neonatal ICU and a renal dialysis unit, the hospital offers state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Of the 125,000 outpatients cared for every year, 35,000 are seen by the hospital's consultants on a non-fee paying basis.
To strengthen cancer care, the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation has partnered with Prince Aly Khan Hospital to construct a specially designed, fourteen bed oncology ward, along with equipment support and staff capacity building in laryngo-tracheal surgery.

L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is a comprehensive eye health facility with its main campus located in Hyderabad, India. A World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness, the Institute offers comprehensive patient care, sight enhancement and rehabilitation services and high-impact rural eye health programs. It also pursues cutting edge research and offers training in human resources for all levels of ophthalmic personnel.
L V Prasad Eye Institute began offering eye care services from 1987 at its centre in Hyderabad and over the years expanded to provide tertiary, secondary and primary eye care services all over the state of Andhra Pradesh. It has also made a beginning in the state of Orissa. The success of their model of eye care has helped reach out to over 11.5 million patients directly through their centres situated in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation supported the LVPEI extension centre in the procurement of slit lamps. This basic and vital diagnostic tool will help in screening ophthalmic anomalies among needy patients.
